Young Leaders Initiative Program

SALT LAKE COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN RELATIONS

The Young Leaders Initiative Program was established in 2018 by the American Committees on Foreign Relations (ACFR) to provide interested and talented students with an exceptional learning experience in Washington, D.C.  The program entails meetings with diplomatic personnel, discussion of pivotal issues, participation in simulations, dinner with a foreign ambassador, and other opportunities.  In addition, ACFR hopes to invigorate a lasting interest in foreign relations building upon the relationships that the student participants will establish while in Washington, D.C. and afterwards.  The program takes place in June of each year.  The dates this year are May 31-June 2, 2023. Details on the scheduled itinerary, cost, and other details will be provided as they become available. For more information click on the following link: acfryoungleaders

The Salt Lake Committee on Foreign Relations (SLCFR), a member committee of the AFCR, will help defray the cost of the program for two selected students by providing scholarships of $1500/student covering the registration fee and the approximate cost of round trip Salt Lake-Washington D.C. area coach airfare.  The $1050 registration fee includes the cost of hotel, most meals and local D.C. transportation during the program. Selection of the recipients will be based upon the their application, an essay, and reference letters.  College or graduate students of good academic standing with an interest in foreign affairs are encouraged to apply.
